A Tom Sito sighting in NYC - Monday, September 16 at 7:00pm

Tom Sito's latest book
On Monday, September 16 at 7:00pm Tom Sito, author of Moving Innovation: The History of Computer Animation (and friend of FLIP), will be at the SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street, NYC.

Tom will be "telling stories, spinning yarns about CGI and signing a book or two". He also adds that "some NY CG legends have promised to come too" - although their identities remain undisclosed. The evening is free and open to anyone to attend.

I've known Tom about as long as I've known anyone in the animation business. We met on the set of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, where Tom did some of the funniest animation in the film (lots of great stuff on the weasels) and also drew endless cartoons, caricatures and comic strips of members of the crew.

His drawings kept us all entertained and amused during the many all-nighters it took to get the film done. Tom was a natural story board artist and, moving to Disney after The Rabbit, soon joined the story team. When I moved to LA for the summer in 1994 to work on Pocahontas, Tom was by now head of story, still spinning yarns and telling jokes.

He is also a historian, for many years an amateur one, producing a daily on this day History blog even before blogs existed. Now he is a professional historian, a respected published author and the author of this, latest, awesome book. If I were in New York I would go along. Few people in the animation business are as good company as Tom Sito.
